  Think Big
My brother gave me an autographed, pre-release copy of Dan Miller's new hard-back edition of 48 Days to the Work You Love for Christmas.

I get Dan's email newsletter every week, and it is always inspiring and entertaining. This week has an especially good quote:
Make no little plans; they have no magic to stir men’s blood and
probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will not die.

  Transcendental Crayon Ensemble
I'm going to see my friend Gaines play flute in Transcendental Crayon Ensemble tomorrow night (Wed.) at Windows on the Cumberland in Nashville. I'm looking forward to it.
Lately, inexplicably, I've been listening to jazz.

  Books to read

rexblog library of accidental blog books
= my new list of books to read.
I've read Bird by Bird and I think I have Strunk and White around here somewhere. Some of his other suggestions are already on my list, but now I have several more to add.

  Let's start with Latin!
The rexblog mentions a story about a magazine for Japanese women learning English, and he asks about anything similar in the American market.
I vote we start with a magazine in Latin. really.
  There's mega talent behind 'Mini-Nutcracker' - Saturday, 12/04/04
My wife just pointed out that the Tennessean might be refering to us when it says: "[Shirley] Blackburn has one family in its third generation of students.": Maybe.
  There's mega talent behind 'Mini-Nutcracker' - Saturday, 12/04/04
This past weekend my daughter was in Nashville Metro Parks''Mini-Nutcracker'. She had a wonderful time. I was astounded at the talent of the dancers and the efforts of all the adults involved—a great production and a most enjoyable experience.

  A.V.A.S.: their other bands
Jay is also in Acoustic Syndicate. Jason is also part of Mad Tea Party, and Gaines is in Transcendental Crayon Ensemble.
The are each in several other groups at times, often with each other and/or other people. I am thinking about working up a diagram—it's complicated. Complicated, but good.
Went to see some old High School Friends perform Sunday night. Acoustic Vibration Appreciation Society plays an eclectic mix of jazz, bluegrass, celtic and indian music, with a little something added. Very good. Proud to know Jason, Jay and Gaines, all of whom I went to high school with.
